Giraffes!!!

This piece took me a little longer than I thought but I like how it turned out!

This will be the last post from me of this year and I'm glad to say that I fulfilled my resolution of updating this thing as much as I could. Next year, I'll do what I can to keep updates consistent!

Happy New Years, everyone!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a room to clean...
...and a gut to lose...
...and an office to move into...
...and another job to look for...

Witch Doctor!

Third post for the month!
Almost didn't make it (again)! I know this month was a little weak in terms of updates but things got REALLY busy, what with CTN and all. I promise I have some cool stuff planned for December!

Man. Is the year really almost over?

Just a fun little illustration I did tonight.

Recently downloaded Sonic 4: Episode 2 and just got the jones to do some geeky fan art. Hope you enjoy it, at least. :)

Doomed to Repeat it! (Truly Historical Improv)

My Latest for the Brody Theater!

My improv teacher, Kerry Leek, is directing a history themed improv show and commissioned me to do the poster for it! I love doing these!

Here are the roughs. Kerry told me that past shows involved the Hindenburg, the flight at Kitty Hawk (Wright Bros.), the rise of the Roman Empire, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. These are the ideas I came up with:

A simple idea in case the deadline was getting close.

My idea (the selected one). Kind of an Epic Movie feel to it (including Bad Ass Washington).

Kerry's idea. She liked mine but I wouldn't have minded working on this one either. :)

For my friend Ashley

Some character designs I did for the very talented Ashley Bales. She's working on some childrens books that aren't exactly for children. :)

These are for a character named Hypoch Andrea. Ashley wanted kind of a Tim Burton style so I studied him and a few other art styles similar to his.

Paranormal Activity 69

Another live short that I co-starred in!

This was directed by my room mate, Koty Juliano, an insanely talented guy (seriously, you should see him dance)! My other room mate, Andy Cunial, is in this as well. Check it out and check out Koty's channel (Take31)!

My Acting Debut!

Next to animation, I've always had an interest in acting. Here's a short film that I starred in recently.

The Melancholy Trip of Andrew Gumble from One Movie a Month on Vimeo.

The crew that I worked with (one of them does improv with me at the Brody Theater) were really cool and very professional. I don't know if I'll pursue acting as a career but sometimes doing these things can really help with the creative muscles.

Be sure to check out the other video these guys did on their Vimeo! They're trying to do one a month (this one ran a little late).

Attack of the Roosters!!

This little diddy took me a flippin' week! I have a comic to work on for cryin' out loud!

Durp Doc!

Great Scott! It's a REALLY messed up caricature of Christopher Lloyd. Another favorite of mine....who'd kill me if he saw this.

An update!!

Just stealing from a favorite of mine, Pascal Campion. Sorry for the lack of updates. Just been REALLY busy, lately.

Comedy Bull at the Brody Theater!

My latest, commisioned by a friend from the Brody Theater, Anatoli Brant. I think the design for the bull looks a little weird (he looks more like a deer) and the text on the top could use a little polish but Toli's happy with it and that's what's important. :)

Here are the roughs:

These are the four concepts that I pitched originally. The point of the show is that a group of stand up comedians will perform in a short amount of time. If the audience doesn't like what they hear, they get booed off stage even sooner. Toli also told me that he wanted a strong "Bull" theme in these. I figured that I'd focus on Bulls, Timing, Stand-Up and Intimidation.

When he saw the four above, he gave me a much more specific idea.

Showed him this and, while he liked it, just wasn't what he was looking for (plus it was the wrong dimensions). One more shot!

Bam! This is the idea he liked.

This project was a lot of fun and a good challenge. I had to do these in a little more than a week (while working two freakin' jobs!!!) so despite the final image's flaws, I do like a lot of how it turned out.

I'll be coming to this show when it happens at the Brody! Hope it's a success, Toli! :)

Little teaser for a project that I'm helping with...

Working on a few short comics with a talented writer, Nico Izambard. These will probably change but I wanted to post SOMETHING before this month is up.

It's-a me! Mario!

Just some sketches to fool around in photoshop. Had a lot of fun doing these!

Last one for a while...

...mainly because I can't really think of anything for these guys.

These guys again?

Kind of an awkward composition but I didn't want to just toss this aside.

Fire Drill at the Brody Theater!

For a good portion of this year, I've been doing improv at the Brody Theater. Every Sunday night, students taking level 2 classes or higher perform on stage. We decided to dub this Fire Drill and Kerry Leek (the director of the show and also one of my teachers) commissioned me to do a poster for it. What you see above is the final result.

It took me a while to finish (I've been getting scheduled overtime at work and I had a few commissions that needed to get done) but I had a lot of fun working on it. Below is the rough layout and the clean-ups/tied-down drawings that I used.

Here are the rough sketches.

Here's another idea that I pitched.

Kerry liked this one but felt the first idea was stronger. Anyway, I'm glad I got this opportunity as it was a lot of fun and I'm pretty proud of the result. Hope you guys like it as well. :)
