"Full Brody Cleanse" commissioned by Caitlin Kunkel!

Here's my latest for the Brody theater, once again commissioned by Caitlin Kunkel.

The title of the show is "Full Brody Cleanse" and Caitlin pitched a few funny ideas involving getting cleaned or bathing. The thumbnails above were my interpretation of some of the ideas she pitched me.

As you may have guessed...

...the woman bathing won the vote. Not gonna lie, the girl was fun to design and draw. :)

Here's what it looks like without all the lettering.

The class' performance will be at the Brody Theater, May 23 @ 7:30pm. Check it out! They're always a pleasure to watch!

Activist Issue #2; "Abort Me This"! WARNING: OFFENSIVE MATERIAL!!! Read at your own risk!

Just posting the artwork here. Nico will be posting the worded version on his site. Again, This comic was meant to offend (the above cover should provide a subtle hint of what this issue is about)! Read at your own risk!

"Taboo or Not Taboo" for Caitlin Kunkel

Another piece for Caitlin Kunkel! She teaches a sketch writing class on occasion.

Looks like my friend Ashley Bales is helping with this one.
Anyway it's happening this Thursday if anyone wants to check it out.

The class choose the title, "Taboo or not Taboo". A few of the ideas pitched involved Hamlet eating a human head (apparently the winner), an Indian Cow being ground into beef, and the pope getting a tatoo.

These were all fun to work on but I was kinda hoping for the third one, to be honest. The first got the vote, though. I made a touched up version of it, to give Caitlin a better idea on how it'll look.

It also helped me figure out how to approach the final poster.
Which looked like this.

I love doing these. :)

This is happening on Thursday (March 7th), 7:30pm at the Brody Theater so check it out if you can! Tickets are five bucks!

26 Hour Improv-A-Thon Poster!

My latest for the Brody Theater. This one was commissioned by Devin Harkness, the show's director.

Here are the roughs that I pitched.

He liked the idea of having sequential images of a progressing show. He helped build on it and so I developed this rough idea here.

Ta-Da.
The final's at the top if you wanna see it.

Here are the panels at a larger size.

Logo for Caitlin Kunkel!

A logo commissioned by my talented friend, Caitlin Kunkel! You can see it on her website, http://caitlinkunkel.com/!

Had a lot of fun with this one! I do worry that the android boobs are a little lop-sided. Oh well. :-P

Here are some of the roughs:

Not gonna lie. I do miss the beret.

Cover for Activist #1!

Here's the finished piece as well as the rough. Certain things didn't turn out how I wanted (I wish I did a better job showing the Fry Kids) but, well, them's the breaks.

When Nico posts the whole thing on HIS blog (it'll have words an' stuff), I'll let you guys know. :)

"Don't Taze Me, Brody" @ the Brody Theater

Happy New Year, everyone!

Got a new commission from the Brody! This is for the script writing program, taught by Caitlin Kunkel. Alot of my talented friends will be in this one so I can't wait to see it!

Here's the Poster, along with the rough:

Here are the thumbnails:

We went with the robot since it's kind of the Brody's mascot (the owner has a costume of it for certain shows).

While I'm really proud of how this turned out, I wouldn't mind a critique or two if you guys could think of one. :)

Giraffes!!!

This piece took me a little longer than I thought but I like how it turned out!

This will be the last post from me of this year and I'm glad to say that I fulfilled my resolution of updating this thing as much as I could. Next year, I'll do what I can to keep updates consistent!

Happy New Years, everyone!
Now if you'll excuse me, I have a room to clean...
...and a gut to lose...
...and an office to move into...
...and another job to look for...

Doomed to Repeat it! (Truly Historical Improv)

My Latest for the Brody Theater!

My improv teacher, Kerry Leek, is directing a history themed improv show and commissioned me to do the poster for it! I love doing these!

Here are the roughs. Kerry told me that past shows involved the Hindenburg, the flight at Kitty Hawk (Wright Bros.), the rise of the Roman Empire, and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. These are the ideas I came up with:

A simple idea in case the deadline was getting close.

My idea (the selected one). Kind of an Epic Movie feel to it (including Bad Ass Washington).

Kerry's idea. She liked mine but I wouldn't have minded working on this one either. :)

Comedy Bull at the Brody Theater!

My latest, commisioned by a friend from the Brody Theater, Anatoli Brant. I think the design for the bull looks a little weird (he looks more like a deer) and the text on the top could use a little polish but Toli's happy with it and that's what's important. :)

Here are the roughs:

These are the four concepts that I pitched originally. The point of the show is that a group of stand up comedians will perform in a short amount of time. If the audience doesn't like what they hear, they get booed off stage even sooner. Toli also told me that he wanted a strong "Bull" theme in these. I figured that I'd focus on Bulls, Timing, Stand-Up and Intimidation.

When he saw the four above, he gave me a much more specific idea.

Showed him this and, while he liked it, just wasn't what he was looking for (plus it was the wrong dimensions). One more shot!

Bam! This is the idea he liked.

This project was a lot of fun and a good challenge. I had to do these in a little more than a week (while working two freakin' jobs!!!) so despite the final image's flaws, I do like a lot of how it turned out.

I'll be coming to this show when it happens at the Brody! Hope it's a success, Toli! :)
